Photowalk: Ennerdale Water
A recent photo walk around Ennerdale Water in the Lake District. We were there for family reasons for two days so had a trundle round the lake itself and an evening at the Fox and Hounds pub.
We used to go to Ennerdale itself for yearly holidays, staying in Mireside Farm which is a National Trust tenant farm off the main road that leads further down the valley. It’s the furthest western lake in Cumbria - its nearest neighbours are Buttermere and Crummock Water if you fancy a scramble to the east, or Wast Water to the south.
I’d not been to Ennerdale or the Lakes itself for at least over a decade. Arriving it was pretty much the same except with more cars and more visitors (but not an overwhelming amount). It was nice to see that the village itself has a community centre and cafe called The Gather (that had its own cardboard cut out of Idris Elba for some reason). It even has a link back to Mireside Farm with a defibrillator dedicated to David Vickers who was the farmer when we stayed there.
