The Archbishop’s walled garden

I’ve been continuing my photography work in the Archbishop’s walled garden in Bishopthorpe since it was the subject of my final MA project in 2024. The idea is to keep going with it for as long as possible, at least for another five years or so (or until people get sick of me).

There’s been a few changes to the walled garden since 2024. A new pond in the main garden to cultivate more insect life is having a great effect with lots of insect life including blue damsel flies whizzing around. There also seems to be a lot more butterflies and bees compared to last year (although still noticeably less than previous years). The walled garden itself has now been listed and is getting ready to have some of the far walls reinforced which will have an effect on how the garden is worked throughout the next year.

Note: there still isn’t a great deal of portraiture to be shown as with most people being vulnerable adults there’s a layer of permissions and sign off involved - these will be shown later in the year.

Brunswick Organic Nursery main site and woodwork photography

I’ve also worked with the Brunswick shop on the main site and woodwork groups throughout the year to capture some of the work they’ve been doing, in particular product shots of the handmade bird and insect boxes which are in high demand.
